Casa Galería is a hotel in the neighbourhood La Candelaria in Bogota. The building is a lovely house that evokes the local republican architecture and it is located in a very special place of the city called La Calle Del Embudo, on colonial groundwork and ancient indigenous settlements. It witnessed the modifications of the area abutting the Chorro de Quevedo square, place that dates from the arrival of Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada to our valley in the year 1538 and in which the first foundation of the city of Bogotá was held.
As described in the investigations performed in the area, it is said that the street in which “El Chorro” is located is exactly “El Callejón del Embudo”, a winding and cobbled paved street that dates from the seventieth century. It once was the edge of the don Bruno brook which empties into the San Francisco River, giving a northern exit to the first settlement that was built by Quesada.
